When should I move my baby out of my room at bedtime?

When my husband and I had our first baby we had many sleepless nights in which we could not figure out how to get this little thing to go to sleep. With lack of sleep we just fought more and more about what we should be doing to get our baby to sleep at night. We laugh about the things we said to each other now, but it was a very stressful time back then. Since then we've had two more babies that we taught to cry themselves to sleep. What a difference it makes! When I get back from the hospital with my newborns I have always started them sleeping in their bassinet at night then after they wake up to eat I would just fall asleep with them in my bed. This works for a tired mom but your baby is at risk. I know a lot of people all over the world believe in co-sleeping but after hearing about a little baby dying in my community I had to make a change. We just moved our two month old baby out of our room and it has been so nice. I actually wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and amazingly my neck isn't all tweaked from having a baby sleeping on my arm. Our baby sleeps so much longer too.
Richard Ferber wrote a book titled, "Solve Your Child’s Sleep Problems", in which he explains his method very precisely. This method takes up to 14 days of letting your baby cry for one minute then soothing them, walking away to let them cry again and stretching out the time that you go back to them. One of the most important parts is not talking to soothe the baby because this just distracts them from falling asleep. Another important piece of info is that you should start doing this between 2-3 months of age because they don't need to wake up for feeding as much and if you wait until they are 6 months old they you will really have a tough time breaking their habits.
Now do some research and get some sleep!
